ISO 14001:2015 Environmental

It is a series of standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that establish guidelines for environmental management within a company to reduce the impact companies have on the environment.

The environmental management certificates of the ISO 14001:2015 series attest to environmental responsibility in the development of an organization’s activities.

Many companies use natural resources, generate pollution, or cause environmental damage through their production processes. By following ISO 14001:2015 standards, these companies can significantly reduce their environmental impact.

The ISO 14001:2015 standards do not establish levels of environmental performance; they only specify the requirements that an environmental management system must meet.

In general, they outline what should be done by an organization to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment but do not prescribe how to do it.

To obtain and maintain the ISO 14001:2015 certificate, the organization must undergo periodic audits conducted by a certifying company that is accredited and recognized by national and international bodies. When a company follows the standards and implements the indicated processes, it can obtain the ISO 14001:2015 Certificate. This certificate is important as it attests to the organization’s environmental responsibility, thus adding value to its products and brand.

The audits check for compliance with requirements such as:

  • Compliance with environmental legislation;
  • Updated diagnosis of the environmental aspects and impacts of each activity;
  • Standard procedures and action plans to eliminate or reduce environmental impacts on the environmental aspects;
  • Properly trained and qualified personnel.
